For over 30 years The Women’s Center of East Texas has served battered women, their witnessing children, and victims of sexual assault. We have responded to tens of thousands of calls for help, and there is so much more to be done. We spend our days exploring options, enhancing safety and creating community change with victims of domestic and stranger and/or non-stranger sexual violence.
Heartisans Marketplace is a community volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a customized job-training program to unemployed/underemployed women living in the local community. The organization’s goal of increasing the employability and selfsufficiency of program participants is achieved through a community partnership with Longview Economic Development Corporation (LEDCO) as an ACT Career Ready 101 site and the utilization of a manufacturing business model in which hand-crafted consumer products are produced in-house and sold in various venues. Profits generated from the sale of the products and community donations provide the training and employment opportunities for program participants.
Longview Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income families who are living in inadequate, unsafe, unafordable and/or overcrowded housing to build simple, safe and decent homes. The community provides volunteer-ism and donations in the form of construction labor, professional services, money and materials to construct the homes in a cost-efficient manner.
Parenting Resource Center is a non-profit organization that has offered parent education in our community for over 20 years. We strive to offer high quality programs that reflect the needs of the community and to offer support and encouragement to parents in their efforts to make positive changes in their families.
